  1. What Agreements can I claim against?
    In relation to the insurance, most credit agreements can be looked at to see if you have a claim. We look at credit cards, personal loans, hire purchase agreements, mortgages and secured and unsecured loans, ASU Policies and Life Insurance.
    In relation to Mis-sold Mortgages we can claim against mortgage agreements, endowments and secured loans over £25,000.
  2. Do I qualify? 
    To reclaim the cost of PPI, and also the interest and charges associated with the PPI, and then it doesn’t matter when the PPI was sold, or even if the loan is entirely paid off. For us to pursue a claim the total cost of the PPI must be at least £2,000. The credit agreement should clearly state the cost of the PPI but generally it is between 20% - 40% of the loan value.     To reclaim compensation for mi-sold mortgages to qualify you need to have a mortgage, endowment or secured loan taken through a broker before 31st January 2008.
  3. Can I claim for a mis-sold PPI policy if I have already made an insurance claim with them? 
    You cannot claim on the insurance, use the policy and then try and argue that is was mis-sold to you because you will not be entitled to the refunds as you have made beneficial use of the policy.
  4. How long will it take to reclaim the cost of mis-sold payment protection insurance?
    It can vary depending upon the complexity of your claim but your claim will usually be settled within 3 months.
  5. I am in a debt management programme, how will this work? 
    We cannot process your PPI claim if you are in a debt management programme.
  6. What are your fees?
    For reclaiming mis-sold payment protection insurance our fee is 25% of all sums reclaimed, payable to us upon the successful outcome of your claim. (If you are in arrears with your credit card company but would still like to claim back on your PPI we can arrange a fixed rate fee for our services, call 0845 025 0111 for further information).

    For mis-sold mortgage compensation claims we charge £495.00 which can be paid with flexible payment terms, there is a fee of up to a maximum of 25% on any compensation claimed once the case is complete.
  7. Will this affect my credit rating?
    Nothing is recorded on your credit report as a result of our process and therefore will not affect your credit rating.
  8. Is there an alternative to using Abacus Reclaims? 
    Yes, you could try and deal with the creditors yourself or use alternative schemes. You could also seek assistance from organisations such as the Citizens Advice Bureau or the Financial Ombudsman Services.
